Government to financial back Moldovan inventors when recording works abroad

Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan inventors will be able to benefit from support on behalf of the state in the process of patenting abroad of the inventions and varieties of plants created in Moldova. At a today’s meeting, the government approved a regulation to this effect, which establishes a mechanism of financial support for legal entities which initiated the procedure of external patenting of the products created, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.   

The document is meant to ensure capacities of innovations of the research institutions, university centres and the business environment through encouraging the patenting of inventions internationally. The inventors will be able to benefit from partial coverage of the spending met during the patenting of inventions and varieties of plants abroad, in particular, to pay the tax for submitting the application of patent and/ or consideration of the application, documentation fee and for carrying out the technical examination of the plant variety.  

One applicant will be able to benefit from financial support three times at the most. During one calendar year, the financial assistance can be provided to one applicant only one time, and the sum will not exceed the equivalent of 3,000 euros.

The selection of the invention of the plant variety, for which the applicant will benefit from financial assistance, will be made by a special commission, made up of specialists in the field, and with at least five years of experience in the intellectual property sector.
