Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/- Topical issues related to Moldova’s reintegration policies, as well as the situation in the Transnistrian region were discussed today at the first meeting of the parliamentary platform on consulting and control for carrying out Moldova’s reintegration policy, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu chaired the meeting. Attending the event were deputy speaker Vladimir Vitiuc, chairman of the commission for national security, defense and public order Veaceslav Untila, head of the commission on rules and immunities Raisa Apolschii, head of the commission on human rights and interethnic relations Vladimir Turcan, as well as former negotiators in the Transnistrian conflict settlement Vasilii Sova, Victor Osipov and Eugen Carpov.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan presented information on an official meeting in the five plus two format, held in Berlin in early June, after a two-year break. Balan said that a string of issues were on the agenda meant to contribute to strengthening confidence between the two banks of the Dniestre. It is about identifying a practical solution to ensure participation of transport units from the Transnistrian region in the international traffic, apostilling study documents by higher education institutions from the Transnistrian region, restoring phone interconnection between the two banks, developing joint projects in the environment protection.

Candu announced that the format of the parliamentary platform would be extended, due to involve in talks both representatives of different state institutions and members of civil society, who had expertise necessary for the reintegration process.

“What I have noticed is that, regardless of political color of participants in talks, there is solidarity and a joint voice in everything related to the reintegration process. Negotiators on behalf of Moldova, Mr.Balan and his team, will have support of politics in all stages of negotiations, respectively, comfort of political support”, he said.

The speaker proposed to identify solutions along with the government in order to back the people from the Transnistrian region.

“Whether it is humanitarian aid or drugs, whether we regulate a budget or certain fund within the state budget of Moldova, through which the authorities could involve in helping the people from the left bank of the Dniestre. We have to identify all possible instruments, including via the development partners, in order to help Moldovans from the region, they should feel Chisinau’s aid”, Candu said.
