Swiss companies interested in establishing cooperation ties with Moldovan partners

Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian had a meeting with President of the Geneva-based Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pierre Poncet and the directors of more companies from Switzerland in Geneva today. The Swiss officials showed interest in establishing partnership relations with Moldova, including by carrying out investment projects in different fields.
The Economics Ministry’s press service said that, during discussions, Octavian Calmic noted that the attraction of foreign direct investment and creating a friendly and attractive environment for business are some of the main priorities of the Moldovan government. Also, the economics minister stressed that, to this end, the cabinet had undertaken a string of measures aimed at facilitating the work of both local and foreign enterprises. Calmic gave an example to this effect the cancellation of 125 permissive acts, introduction of a moratorium on state controls, cutting the number of control bodies, etc.
Octavian Calmic also said that the Free Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Moldova represent a platform for foreign companies which come with investments in Moldova, as they provide a wide range of fiscal and customs facilities, as well as for business development.
For his part, Pierre Poncet said that, on the last period, the trade and economic relations between Moldova and Switzerland had become more intensive, with an example being also Switzerland’s decision to double the financial assistance for Moldova in 2014-2017, as well as the contribution to developing Moldovan government’s policies in the relations with Diaspora.
Attending the discussions, representatives of the Swiss companies, working in the pharmaceutical, oil, constructions, transports, real estate and other fields, put questions focused on procedures of activity of enterprises, legal framework for protecting business, etc.
Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic participates in the fifth meeting of the Trade Ministers from the Land-locked Developing Countries in Geneva on 22-24 June.
