Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on a working visit to the eastern Dubasari district, today met representatives of the local public authorities. The sides discussed the most urgent problems faced by the people from the district’s settlements, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The PM referred to the cabinet’s achievements and objectives set, stressing that the priority goals were stabilizing the financial and social situation, regaining the trust of the residents and development partners, as well as continuing the European integration. “We have chosen the European option, this means that we will take over the European standards in the activity and the good practices of the European Union states. This, however, does not mean that we give up the good relations with the partners from the east,” Pavel Filip said.
The dialogue was focused on the achievements in the social sector. In this respect, the prime minister touched upon the reforms underway, pointing out including the indexation of pensions and social payments, increase in salaries for some categories of civil servants, as well as the stabilization of tariffs for energy resources.
“We have initiated reforms which must have been done long time ago. We started with the stabilization of the situation in the banking sector and interventions in the social field. We have an action plan and we have at the government a team determined to fulfill it. I ask you to trust Moldova’s future, to back us in carrying out the reforms for the benefit of the citizens and ensuring stability in the society,” the prime minister said.
Another important topic of the meeting was focused on the reforms in the banking sector and ensuring financial stability. In this respect, the prime minister said that it was necessary to investigate the banks fraud, to recover all the financial resources; yet, the most important thing is to change the legislation, so that such cases do not repeat in the long run. “The government has already managed to approve a string of amendments to this end, including on the creation of two specialized prosecutor’s offices: one will deal with the prevention of corruption deeds, and the second one – with fighting the organized crime and special causes. In this way, we will establish and independent, fair and efficient justice system,” Pavel Filip said.
The dialogue was interactive, with the mayors and councilors focusing mainly on subjects concerning residents’ access to farmlands, developing the local infrastructure, supporting business initiatives in the rural environment, giving children right to study at modern education institutions, as well as access to state social services.
At the same time, the local authorities’ representatives demanded support from the central authorities to cope with the difficulties triggered by the situation on the Dniester. In this context, Pavel Filip said the Transnistrian problem was very important for the government and the country’s reintegration – a fundamental priority. The PM promised that the cabinet would analyse each case separately, to be able to easily intervene and make the life of the people from the region easier.
Also today, Prime Minister Pavel Filip laid flowers at the Monument to Heroes who died in the 1992 War of Transnistria, placed in the Cosnita village, and visited the district leisure centre for children and youth Prietenia (Friendship), where he collected facts on repair works and organization of the centre’s work.
