Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on a working visit to the eastern Dubasari district, today discussed with the local authorities the state of the flood protection dam placed on in the settlements Dorotcaia, Cosnita, Pirita and Pohrebea, and its preparation for eventually coping with new heavy rains, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The information unveiled by the Dubasari district’s leadership shows that the dam’s state is satisfactory and works have been already started to repair and consolidate the Dniester river banks, as well as the dams. The government earmarked 600,000 lei to this end. The works to restore the dam see both cleaning of the river’s bed and setting concrete blocks.
At the meeting, the prime minister demanded that the decision-takers make sure that the dam would be able to cope with an eventual increase in the Dniester river’s level, stressing that the citizens’ life and security were priority.
The protection dam from the Dubasari district has a total length of 37 km and provides protection to about 3,000 hectares against floods.
