Moldovan Parliament Secretariat to have a new Strategic Development Programme

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Parliament Secretariat will have a new Strategic Development Programme. The document, which provides for priorities for 2016-2019, was discussed with officials of the Parliament Secretariat on 26 June, the parliament's communication and media relations department has reported.
Development strategies established actions to implement, terms and resources provided, which would boost the modernization of Parliament Secretariat and enhance the degree of society's confidence in the Parliament’s work. Priorities assumed by Parliament Secretariat see providing a modern and qualitative assistance to MPs, so that the parliament effectively fulfills its duties, adapting the institutional and functioning structure of the Secretariat to increasing Parliament’s requirements, as well as strengthening a team of professional, motivated, integral and efficient civil servants, capable to fulfill their duties. Among the priority actions, there are the implementation of the concept of Parliament information system, e-Parliament, optimizing mechanisms for parliamentary control and coordination of the European integration process, developing an effective mechanism of communication between parliament, government and civil society in drafting legislation etc.
“The Parliament Secretariat must ensure a high level of efficiency, transparency and performance through alignment with best international practices of communication, reliability and good governance. The document sets out the main trends of activity for 2016-2019 and is the result of team discussions at the Secretariat, in our goal to build an open and citizen-oriented Parliament,” said Parliament Secretary General, Ala Popescu.
The discussions were held within a training organized for civil servants of the Parliament Secretariat, on the occasion of the Civil Servant Day, marked annually on 23 June. At the event, a group of officers received diplomas from the Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu for carrying out professional work and good results recorded.
The Strategic Development Programme for 2016-2019 has been developed based on conclusions and recommendations of the functional review, carried out within the Parliament Secretariat by a team of experts, with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
