New head of Moldovan electoral body elected

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - The former head of the office of the parliamentary faction of the Party of Communists (PCRM), Alina Russu, has been elected head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). The decision was taken at a CEC meeting.
Six votes went to Alina Russu, one - to the former municipal councilor on behalf of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Maxim Lebedinschi, and one vote was declared invalid.
At the same time, Rodica Ciubotaru also today was elected CEC deputy head and Veaceslav Agrigoroae – CEC secretary.
On 17 June, the parliament approved a new composition of the Central Electoral Commission. The new CEC members are: Sergiu Gurduza (former deputy justice minister), Veaceslav Agrigoroae (adviser of MP), Rodica Ciubotaru (jurist, head of department at at Ltd company), Maxim Lebedinschi (Chisinau municipal council on behalf of the Party of Socialists (PSRM)), Alina Russu (head of office of the chief of the Party of Communists’ faction), Andrei Volentir, Vasile Gafton and Iurie Ciocan – former members of the Commission, as well as Vladimir Sarban, put up the president of Moldova.
The new composition of the Central Electoral Commission was appointed for a five-year mandate.
