Poland backs Moldova to implement National Regional Development Strategy for next 5 years

Chisinau, June 28. / MOLDPRES / - Poland will support Moldova in implementing the National Regional Development Strategy (SNDR) for the next five years. The Polish support will be provided under a project launched at the Regional Development and Constructions Ministry (MDRC) today, aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth in regions.
“I express my gratitude to the Government of Poland for the continuous support offered to Moldova and confidence provided to the ministry in implementation of joint projects. We appreciate a lot the effort of experts who worked side by side with Ministry experts in drafting the National Regional Development Strategy for 2016-2020, a document representing an important tool in stimulating a balanced and sustainable economic progress in the development regions. Poland's experience will help us coordinate sectoral policies for the benefit of citizens,” said Regional Development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bitca at the project launch ceremony.
Also, the minister said that experience and good practices in the urban development sector would be exchanged within this project. Thus, till late 2016, two missions of foreign experts will visit Moldova to identify the present legal framework in this area and work out proposals to create an efficient urban policy.
At his turn, the deputy secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development of Poland (MDE), Paweł Chorąży, emphasized the special role of Moldova in the policy by the Polish government and expressed Poland's willingness to support Moldova continuously, for a balanced economic development of the regions.
“This project is different from those carried out before with Moldova, as it highlights the challenges faced by both countries. We will provide the experience and best practices in urban development, housing construction and coordinating sectoral policies for the benefit of citizens, and will also identify opportunities for future collaboration. I feel honored that I am able to inform you that our ministry developed a strategy to help developing countries, and Moldova is a priority. Thus, we will identify opportunities for implementing not only projects of experts, but also tangible ones for citizens”, stressed Paweł Chorąży.
According to the press service of MDRC, the project, Support to public administration support of Moldova in implementing the National Regional Development Strategy for 2016-2020, provides for the establishment of guidelines and recommendations that will enhance the skills and competencies of public administration in Moldova, in order to develop urban areas as engines of balanced economic development.
