Moldovan deputy foreign minister meets United Nations special rapporteur

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari today had a meeting with United Nations Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues Rita Izsák-Ndiayne, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The UN rapporteur informed about the results of her enlarged visit to Moldova, reviewing the main achievements, as well as the challenges faced by Moldova in the context of protection of the rights of people belonging to ethnic minorities.
For her part, Deputy Minister Morari thanked the UN official for the visit paid and recommendations formulated. She noted that the national authorities had given assurances to take needed efforts to fulfill them.
Special Rapporteur Rita Izsák-Ndiayne is paying a 20-29 June fact-collecting visit to Moldova, after which she will develop a country report, due to be unveiled at the next March session of the UN Human Rights Council.
