Moldovan deputy foreign minister meets U.S. high official

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii today had a meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Kathleen Kavalec, on the sidelines of the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference, held in Vienna, Austria.
The officials exchanged opinions on topical issues on the agenda of the Moldova-USA relations and subjects tackled at the OSCE Conference. The sides paid special attention to prospects for the process of talks on the Transnistrian settlement.
Deputy Minister Darii appreciated the dynamic of the bilateral ties between the two countries and reiterated Moldova’s interest in reviving the strategic dialogue and the work of the mechanisms of promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, supremacy of law and security. The Moldovan official thanked the U.S. administration for support provided to implement the reforms’ agenda and enliven the process of negotiations on Transnistrian settlement.
For her part, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Kathleen Kavalec encouraged the Moldovan authorities to persevere on the way of reforms provided for in the Association Agreement with the European Union. She reiterated the United States’ willingness to back efforts on identifying a political solution to the Transnistrian conflict within the five-plus-two format of talks.
