Chisinau, June 29 /MOLDPRES/ - Technical inspection badges will be applied on  plates of motor vehicles and trailers registered in Moldova starting from 1 January 2017, and not on windshields, as it has been so far. The cabinet took a decision to this effect on 29 June, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

According to the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, which is the draft's author, new badges will contribute to excluding cases of forging registration plates, will improve the quality and security and enhance possibility to strictly monitor the registration plates.

The badges will be posted both on the front plate and at the rear of the vehicle, to be visible within automated traffic monitoring systems. At the same time, drivers will be obliged to have onboard vehicle inspection reports, which will accompany badges glued on plates. Issuing new badges became possible after taking over the experience of more countries, such as Germany, Romania, Austria, Lithuania and Hungary.

To be noted that car plates issued in Moldova starting from April 2015 provide a space for the new technical inspection badges. Implementation of the new tag will not change the license plates' price. As for the badges issued before the entering into force of the new rules, they will remain valid till their validity term expires.
