Chisinau, June 30. /MOLDPRES/ The spectrum of activities offered by the Centre for Assistance and Business Consulting (CC & AA) of the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) could be extended. The ODIMM leadership discussed matters to this end at a meeting with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 29 June.

According to the ODIMM press service, JICA representatives said the Agency was set to strengthen the capacity of support offered to the business sector of Moldova, by extending the service capabilities of consulting centers, including via the already established businesses that require impetus for growth.

In this context, Horikawa Miho, the executive director of the European Department of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, stressed that, as an institution of the Government of Japan, JICA was willing to cooperate, through ODIMM, with the government of Moldova, to identify all opportunities of technical cooperation and adaptation of the legal framework for entrepreneurship, thus enabling the Moldovan business sector to develop more dynamically.

For her part, Yulia Iabanji, ODIMM general manager, stressed that so far the Organization experts had paid more attention to the process of initiating business and educating future entrepreneurs. The institution's team is further seeking ways of developing the small and medium-sized business. “For these reasons, consultancy services provided to entrepreneurs with experience might serve as an advanced stage of support to the business sector of Moldova by government institutions through development partners,” said Iabanji.

ODIMM in partnership with JICA launched the first Centre of Consultancy and Business (CC & AA), which is currently being developed in the regions through its nine business incubators in Moldova.

Japanese International Cooperation Agency was founded in 1974 and is an implementer of technical assistance geared towards institutional capacity building, strengthening businesses and developing human resources to help developing countries initiate sustainable economic and social development.
