Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary majority today rejected a simple motion of censure, initiated by the lawmakers of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) against Transports and Roads Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc.
In the motion, the PSRM MPs said that “starting the swearing in office, both the transport and road infrastructure branch and the Railway of Moldova have been in a lamentable situation and registered a considerable decrease. The person who is responsible for this disaster and promotes a vicious policy in this sector is Minister Iurie Chirinciuc himself,” the document reads.
On the other hand, Chirinciuc rejected the Socialists’ charges. “After I had taken over the position, the projects on restoration of roads’ infrastructure recorded significant acceleration. Nevertheless, the problem of the Railway is systemic. The way it works does not cope with the new challenges. We are set to reorganize the institution, optimize expenses and restructure the staff.”
At the same time, the minister specified that the “salaries of roadmen are paid monthly and there are no debts in this respect.”
Following the debates, the simple motion of censure against Transports Minister Iurie Chirinciuc was not approved by parliament’s plenum, as it failed to get the needed number of votes.
The Socialists have earlier filed a simple motion of censure against Education Minister Corina Fusu, Defence Minister Anatol Salaru and Finance Minister Octavian Armasu. None of them was backed by parliament. The legislative body is to also consider the simple motions of censure filed by the PSRM MPs against Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Stela Grigoras and Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari.
