Belarus marks National Day on 3 July

Chisinau, July 3 /MOLDPRES/ – Belarus celebrates the Independence Day on 3 July, which marks the Minsk city's liberation from fascism in 1944.
Belarus has an area of 207.6 thousand square km and a population of 9.49 million people. The country's capital is Minsk. Among major cities, there are: Brest, Grodno, Gomel, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Bobruisk, Orsha and others.
After seven decades of being an USSR constituent republic, Belarus gained its independence in 1991.
The landscape consists mainly of plains, with large moor tracts, many rivers and about 11,000 lakes. Three major rivers crossing the country are: Neman, Pripeat and Dnieper. About 40% of the territory is covered by forests.
Belarus exports tractors, vehicles, agricultural machines and tools, oil, natural gas, chemicals, building materials, lumber, paper, furniture. It imports fuels, electricity, industrial moldings, carpets, vegetables, fruits, consumer goods.
Moldova and Belarus established diplomatic relations on 19 November 1992. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus to Moldova is Sergey Chichuk and Ambassador of Moldova to Belarus – Gheorge Hioară.
The trade between Moldova and Belarus amounted up to 276.68 million dollars in 2014. In 2015, the two the states conducted trade worth USD 215,7 mln. Export from Moldova to Belarus reached USD 131.56 million. Imports from Belarus amounted to USD 84.15 mln.
