IMF mission starts visit to Chisinau

Chisinau, July 5 /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic, appointed as head of the negotiating group for participating in discussions on a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) memorandum today met the Fund’s mission, led by Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar
The officials tackled issues of the macroeconomic situation, structural reforms implemented by the Moldovan authorities, in order to improve corporate governance, energetic system etc., the Economics Ministry’s press service has reported.
Special attention was paid to situation in the energy sector and measures taken by the Moldovan authorities to settle problems dealing with supply with electricity, natural gas and heating, system modernisation on these segments.
Octavian Calmic and Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar agreed on setting permanent contact between the IMF mission negotiators’ group, on the entire period of staying in Moldova, to optimize the consultations process, in order to develop a draft Memorandum on economic and financial policies between the Moldovan government and IMF.
The IMF mission is going to stay in Moldova on 5 – 15 July 2016.
