Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government today backed the candidacy of Veaceslav Zaporojan for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court (CCM).
In November 2015, the members of the commission for selecting candidates for the office of Constitutional Court judge on behalf of the government unanimously voted for Veaceslav Zaporojan to be put forward to the cabinet of ministers for appointment as CCM judge.
The commission members said that Veaceslav Zaporojan, the only candidate in the race, had had an impeccable performance within the public interview, providing well-reasoned answers to all questions. At the same time, the candidate successfully passed the first two phases of the contest: pre-selection and the written test; the commission’s conclusion was that Zaporojan met all professional and integrity criteria, needed for this office.
Veaceslav Zaporojan was born in Drochia town, north Moldova, on 16 July 1962. He holds the scientific and didactic title of university lecturer in public law. Zaporojan has been working as judge assistant at CCM since 2012. He is university lecturer at the Department of Constitutional Law of the Moldovan State University.
Seven persons have submitted their files for filling the vacant position of CCM judge on behalf of the government.
