Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau municipal council (CMC) today approved the Chisinau city budget for 2016 in final reading, after a delay of more than half a year. The draft was backed with the votes of 44 councilors present at the meeting.
The municipal budget for this year sees incomes amounting to 2.943 billion lei, spending worth 3.47 billion lei, and a budget deficit of more than 100 million lei. Authorities plan to cover the deficit with money gained from sale of public property assets, as well as from external financing sources.
The head of the CMC finance general department, Veronica Herta has said that “the municipal budget of this year is social, with 65 per cent of the spending meant for the social sector, of which 50 per cent (about 1.6 million lei) – for the education system.”
The Chisinau municipal council adopted the municipal budget in the first reading on 10 December 2015.
The document will enter into force after the 2016 state budget is published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
