Moldovan PM meets north district leadership, local administration

Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s visit to the northern Rezina district, discussed priorities of the government’s action programme, topical issues for the district and ways to settle them with the leadership and local public administration representatives, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister referred to results achieved in the first six months of government, stressing that the principal trends of work had been to stabilize the financial situation and regain the trust of the development partners and citizens in the state’s institutions.
“I want to believe that Moldova will have an Agreement with financial component with the International Monetary Fund. Once it is signed, we may appear on the investments’ map again, and the citizens will feel the changes. The things a much clearer now, against last January, the light is seen in the end of the tunnel,” the PM noted.
In the context, Pavel Filip also spoke about reforms implemented by the government, specifying that, besides the justice sector’s reformation, increased attention was paid to the health system. In this respect, the government undertook a string of measures, among which the decrease in prices for medication, widening the spectrum of medical services provided based on the health insurance, as well the payment of salaries to system employees on the basis of the performances achieved.
Among the problems set forth by the Rezina public administration, there were the need to improve the local infrastructure, public institutions’ modernization and creating the best conditions for pupils, as well as the importance of the district’s supply with quality drinking water. In this context, the authorities proposed to launch a joint project on supplying water to the Rezina and Ribnita cities, emphasizing that such an initiative had been before the Transnistria war, and its resumption would help get closer the settlements from the two banks of Dniester.
In the end of the meeting, the prime minister called on local public administration representatives to more actively get involved in settling problems of the settlements they live in and join forces with the central authorities to ensure a better living for people.
“We cannot afford being populist, we must find problems’ reasons and intervene. If we want to manage in what we do, we must have a constructive dialogue and join forces. The citizens should live better here, in our country,” Pavel Filip added.
