Moldovan foreign ministry provides information on railway accident in Italy

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) informs that two regional trains today collided between the towns of Andria and Corata nearby the city of Bari, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, the MAEIE information and media communication department has reported.
According to information received from the Embassy of Moldova in Rome, ten persons died and another several dozens of people were injured. The Andria local authorities estimate that the number of victims will rise, taking into account the serious condition of the wounded. Presently, the Italian authorities focus their actions mainly on providing needed assistance to casualties and elucidating the circumstances of the accident.
The Foreign and European Integration Ministry, through the Moldovan Embassy in Italy, continue to keep in touch with the Italian authorities, in order to clear up whether there are Moldovan citizens among the accident’s victims and will provide the consular specialty assistance, if necessary.
