Chisinau, July 14 /MOLDPRES/ – Regional Development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bitca and Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita had a meeting today. The officials discussed sustainable development projects backed by the Government of Romania, that will be initiated in Moldova by late 2016.
The regional development and constructions minister appreciated the confidence of Romania in Moldova, pointing out more jointly implemented projects. “It is worth mentioning the support provided to rebuild houses in central district of Hincesti, destroyed during the floods of the 2010 summer, the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline’s construction, carrying out a programme launched in 2014 to renovate kindergartens, etc. Two vast projects on sustainable development are under implementation in northern and southern regions of Moldova. We also appreciate Romanian government's willingness to provide another one hundred minibuses for education institutions,” emphasized Vasile Bitca.
For his part, the ambassador of Romania said the goal of his visit was to continue the good experiences and projects carried out together.
“We made good and concrete steps, we will continue to implement successful projects. Moldova is a priority for Romania and we will strengthen the bilateral relations. The agreement on 100 million euros is a tangible tool both for us and for you. I assure you that we will continue the projects underway, we will repair kindergartens and the issue of one hundred minibuses for education institutions remains in force. Also, the Romanian government is willing to earmark money for general urban development plans for more settlements of Moldova”, said Daniel Ionita.
At the same time, the diplomat said that Romania wanted to diversify its assistance, so that all Moldovan citizens, regardless of ethnicity and language, benefit from them.
The Moldovan and Romanian governments signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in Bucharest in 2010. The subject of the accord was the implementation of a programme on technical and financial assistance, based on a non-refundable financial assistance worth one hundred million euros, provided by Romania to Moldova.
