Chisinau, July 15 /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has had a phone conversation with Marshal of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński. The officials discussed developments in the European Union, in the context of the Brexit referendum outcomes and a decision by the Constitutional Court of Austria to invalidate the presidential elections held on 22 May, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu and Marek Kuchciński highlighted that, more than ever, it is important that the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which have common vision on the development of the European Union, remain united in the same close cooperation as before.
Poland launched an initiative to organize a summit of speakers and senior officials from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in early next autumn in Warsaw. The purpose of the meeting is to define a common vision on measures to strengthen the European Union and boost cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. Proposals that will result in the summit are to be submitted to Slovakia's rotating Presidency of the EU Council and the Brussels-based European institutions.
