Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary majority today rejected a simple motion against Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari, initiated by the MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM).

In the motion, the PSRM lawmakers invoked that “the work of the Justice Ministry was compromised, in the last five months, by a string of actions of the leadership, sometimes unreasonable, yet deliberate and conscious in most cases, which brought serious damage both to the state, in the material sense and in terms of image, and to the entire society. At the same time, we reproach the minister with the full lack of a strategy and a project of true reform in the justice sector,” the document reads.

Vladimir Cebotari turned down the Socialists’ charges. “The Justice Ministry this year has implemented 50 per cent of the actions contained in the Roadmap on the enforcement of the Association Agreement with EU, which include the voting of the law on reorganization of law courts, law on testing the professional integrity and law on prosecution,” Cebotari noted.

“The partners encourage us in efforts we make, we also see the support by the civil society. Nevertheless, it is difficult to change citizens’ perceptions in several months; therefore, we are set to get people’s trust by boosting the fight against corruption and facilitating access to justice,” Cebotari stressed.

The parliament turned down the simple motion against Minister Vladimir Cebotari, as the motion failed to get the needed number of votes.

The Socialists have earlier filed simple motions of censure against Education Minister Corina Fusu, Defence Minister Anatol Salaru, Finance Minister Octavian Armasu, Transports and Roads Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc and Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Stela Grigoras. The parliament backed none of these motions. The legislative body is to consider also the simple motions filed by the PSRM lawmakers against Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega and Regional Development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bitca.
