Moldovan premier meets western district authorities

Chisinau, July 19 /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met the leadership and representatives of local administration of the western Ungheni district. The dialogue aimed both priorities of the cabinet's work, as well as problems faced the district settlements and possibilities to solve them, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister stressed that during the first six months in office, the Government had taken needed measures to stabilize the economic and social situation in Moldova, as well as to accumulate sufficient revenues to the state budget to pay wages and social payments in time. At the same time, among the priorities of the government's activity, mentioned by the prime minister, there are also reforming the public system, creating a friendly business environment, and what's most important, regaining the confidence of citizens and foreign partners in state institutions.
"We managed to pass an important package of laws, meant to stabilize and ensure the development of Moldova. It is true that people still do not fully perceive the benefit of these reforms, as most of them have not been implemented yet. In the second half of this year, we will focus on implementing the legal framework adopted," the PM said.
Facilitating entrepreneurial activity and supporting the development of local business environment, including the agricultural sector, was another topic of discussion. In the context, the prime minister referred to the measures taken by the government to this end, including the establishment of the moratorium on state control, cutting the number of institutions with control duties, as well as initiatives to reduce the number of reports required to be presented to public authorities. "The enterprise should be helped, not punished. We want to have a transparent and beneficial cooperation with business people," said Pavel Filip.
The prime minister also spoke about relations with development partners, degree of implementation of the Roadmap assumed before the European Union, also also boosting economic and trade relations with Russia. However, Pavel Filip pointed out that the Chisinau authorities have managed to have an effective and constructive dialogue with the the recent mission of the International Monetary Fund and was soon to to have a national program with the financial institution.
In discussions, local authorities tackled a number of problems the district residents are confronting with. Among the most important topics, there were infrastructure for business development, agricultural products' selling prices, supply with gas of rural areas and the need to strengthen local budgets.
