PM visits first plantation of cranberries in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today visited the first plantation of cranberries in Moldova, placed in the Dolna village, central Straseni district, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The PM was informed about the technology of cultivating cranberries, with the plant being not pretentious to weather conditions and resistant to diseases.
In discussions, Pavel Filip welcomed the development of business in agriculture, stressing that the government would be a strong partner for the new and competitive branches. At the same time, the prime minister said that small businesses, opened locally, contributed to developing the national economy and enhancing Moldova’s competitiveness level.
The plantation of cranberries has a total area of ten hectares. The first fruits were harvested this year and are meant for the domestic market.
