Moldovan cabinet approves 30-per cent cut in state property brands for alcoholic production

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 53 state property brands for alcoholic production have been included in a lost approved by the government today, against 73 recorded so far.
The renowned brands Belîi Aist, Auriu, Luceafăr, Izvoraș, the individual brands Barza Albă, Barza Neagră, Divin, Codreanca and others were included in the list of state property brands. Another list regards 44 brands, the registration of which will not be renewed. It is about Auriu, Izvoraș, Noroc, Flora, Floreasca, Merișor, etc.
The management of state property brands for alcoholic production will be managed by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
Under the last government decision, the ministry is holder of 73 brands for alcoholic products, including wines – 40 brands, sparkling wines – 4, cognacs – 5 brands, alcoholic beverages – 9 brands, etc, as well as of the logotype Barza Alba with its derivatives. As much as 1.1 million lei is annually earmarked from the state budget to ensure protection of 73 brands. Once the number of brands cut to 53, the maintenance spending will drop by 40 per cent.
The analysis of brands’ use in the last years shows that 28 ones are demanded of all their number.
