Moldovan deputy foreign minister, EU U.S. partners discuss priority reforms' agenda

Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari had a meeting with the deputy heads of the EU and U.S. missions in Moldova, Wicher Slagter and Julie Stufft, respectively. The officials discussed the priority reforms’ agenda of Moldova and its correlation with foreign partners, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) information and media communication service has reported.  

Deputy Minister Morari reiterated the importance attached to implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement for the entire process of the country’s reformation. The Moldovan official shortly unveiled also the results recorded in the first half of 2016 in this sector. Morari specified that the members of the Governmental Commission for European Integration had considered a detailed report on the subject earlier this week.  

The sides also made a review of the situation on carrying out the actions included in the Roadmap, developed following the last February EU Council’s conclusions. The officials also found out an advanced level of implementation of this document, reiterating the importance to maintain the high pace of reformation also following the deadline set for 31 July 2016.  

Confirming the commitment to ensure continuity of the process, the deputy minister reminded about the significance to implement, and respectively, monitor all commitments coming from the Agreement, not only the urgent or priority ones. Therefore, in the immediately next period, the authorities will direct efforts to return to the ordinary working agenda, without affecting the pace recorded in first half of this year. MAEIE, as coordinator of the European integration process, has given and will continue giving importance both to the fields described as priority for Moldova’s European agenda (justice reform, mass media freedom etc.) and to those which are traditionally not contained in this list.
