Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Governance Coalition and the leaders of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) today discussed the creation of a partnership to strengthen efforts for Moldova’s European integration.
Following the meeting, the deputy leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Valeriu Munteanu, said that “the PPEM group answered to the appeal by the coalition. Everybody is aware that, for the next years, we need an as stronger as possible consolidation both in parliament and in society; in this respect, it is necessary that all pro-European forces join; therefore, the dialogue will continue next week as well,” Munteanu noted.
“I hope that the supreme forum of PPEM will give a positive answer to our initiative. We rely on a partnership with this party with pro-European visions. I am firmly sure that we will have a quite efficient cooperation,” a member of the Social Democratic Platform for Moldova, Stefan Creanga, said.
The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu said the parliamentary majority would propose a partnership due to lead to consolidation. “PPEM has a novel experience, which would be very useful for the country’s European integration. I instructed the signing of a cooperation agreement. The colleagues are to discuss within national forums, in order to have mandate to continue this dialogue. I hope that this common stance will continue and will be a success,” Lupu noted.
“The proposal comes especially given that PPEM has a good experience and we also enjoy reliability in European capitals. I want to emphasize that this invitation is interesting, proceeding from the idea that the majority has enough votes to promote its draft laws. We have the decision by the PPEM council, in which we ruled that the party is in opposition; and therefore, we will convene once again to decide on the new initiative,” PPEM leader Iurie Leanca said.
Two days ago, the Governance Coalition Council ruled to launch an invitation to dialogue to all pro-European parties of the parliament, in order to identify possibilities of constructive and substantive cooperation, to modernize Moldova. PLDM today refused to participate in the joint meeting of the Governance Coalition and PPEM.
