Ukrainian law-enforcers detain Moldovan businessman

Chisinau, July 26 /MOLDPRES/ – The secret services and the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine on 25 July detained businessman Veaceslav Platon, internationally wanted for the "Theft of the billion" and his involvement in the " Russian laundromat".
According to the portal RISE Moldova, Platon was detained to be arrested and extradited to the Moldovan authorities. "The concerned person has been detained in the way provided for in the Criminal Code of Ukraine and will be subsequently extradited to Moldova, to be called to account for fraud in the banking sector. Also, the aforementioned person is verified by the Kiev authorities on possible involvement in committing crimes on the territory of Ukraine," reads a press release by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office of Moldova on 25 July issued a 30-day warrant of preventive arrest for businessman Veaceslav Platon, who was declared internationally wanted. He is charged in the file on case of Banca de Economii (BEM, Savings Bank of Moldova), after he had received bad loans worth 800 million lei.
