Moldovan foreign minister meets OSCE chairperson-in-office

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today had a meeting with Chairman-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on a working visit to Moldova, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
At the meeting, attended also by Deputy prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan, the sides reviewed the topical issues on the agenda of the process of talks on Transnistrian conflict settlement. The officials paid special attention to actions due to be undertaken to achieve the goals set in the protocol of the five-plus-two meeting, held in Berlin in early last June.
Minister Galbur thanked the German OSCE chairmanship for efforts taken to revive the process of talks and promote confidence building measures. At the same time, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy reiterated the Chisinau authorities’ will to identify a comprehensive and viable solution to the Transnistrian problem by developing a special legal status for Transnistria, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, the German foreign minister confirmed Germany’s willingness to further back efforts taken by the Moldovan government to settle the Transnistrian conflict and implement the agenda of reforms, in line with the Association Agreement with the European Union.
