Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today rejected a simple motion initiated by the MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) against Deputy Prime Minister on Social Issues Gheorghe Brega.

According to the PSRM motion, “since the swearing Mr. Brega in the office of deputy prime minister on social issues, we have noticed a worsening of the state of things in the social protection sector. The residents able to work, given the lack of social programmes, continue to migrate, leaving elderly, children and invalids to the mercy of the fate. At the same time, the families which bring up, maintain and educate children are deprived of real support on behalf of the state, and the disabled persons should take care of themselves independently,” the document reads.

Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega turned down the charges filed by the PSRM lawmakers. He said that “the social field is in direct dependence on the economic sector; on these grounds, the results leave themselves expected. Since the swearing in office of the Filip government, more important things have been made and we continue working to modernize the social sector and for people’s well-being,” Gheorghe Brega said.

The simple motion against the deputy prime minister on social issues was backed by 23 MPs and rejected by parliament, after failing to get the needed number of votes.

Also today, the parliamentary majority turned down a motion of censure filed by the lawmakers of PSRM, Liberal Democratic Party and three MPs of the Party of Communists against the Filip cabinet. The Socialists have earlier filed another eight simple motions against ministers of the Filip government, all of them rejected by the parliamentary majority.
