Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) will have to evacuate its tents from the Great National Assembly Square, under a ruling issued by the Ialoveni town court on 27 July.
According to magistrates’ decision, the application on summons to court, submitted by the Chisinau city hall, was partially admitted. The ruling admits “the ban on holding rallies by the DA Platform and evacuation of the tents and easily dismountable constructions from PMAN starting from the date of entrance into force of the concerned decision till 28 August 2016,” the document reads.
The ruling may be contested at the Court of Appeal during three days upon the date of its issuance.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, a member of the DA Platform, Chiril Motpan, said the decision was predictable. “The ruling will be contested at the Court of Appeal; subsequently we will inform you whether the tents will be evacuated or not,” Motpan noted.
A representative of the legal assistance department at the Chisinau city hall, Valeriu Bogdan, told MOLDPRES that “the request on temporary ceasing the rallies starting from July till 28 August 2016 was submitted to court on 6 July this year, reasoning the carrying out of PMAN restoration works, as well as organizing events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of proclamation of Moldova’s Independence. Subsequently, the protesters will be able to set again their tents, in line with the law on organization and holding rallies,” Bogdan said.
The tents of the Dignity and Truth Platform were placed in PMAN in early last autumn.
