Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The International Monetary Fund’s news on the fact that the Fund has reached a Staff Level Agreement with the Moldovan authorities on a programme of economic reforms, backed by a three-year financing arrangement worth 179 million dollars, is a positive message for the banking system and the clients. President of the bank Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) Serghei Cebotari made statements to this effect in an interview for the website www.bancamea.md.

“We appreciate the efforts made by our country’s authorities to attain this important achievement, expected by the banking community of Moldova. The signing of the agreement will be a clear-cut impetus for such financial institutions as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), International Finance Corporation and European Investment Bank, etc., which will resume full cooperation with the Moldovan banks , in order to finance enterprises,” Cebotari said.

In the context, Serghei Cebotari also referred to efforts made by the banking system, to re-establish the confidence of the society and foreign partners in banks. “Turning transparent the commercial banks has a decisive role to this end; this is a key moment for the banking stability, for national economy, as well as for the present relations with the international financial institutions,” the MAIB president said.

IMF on 26 July informed that it had reached a staff level agreement with the Moldovan authorities, after a three-year break, on a programme of economic reforms, which provides for a three-year financing amounting to 179 million dollars.
