Moldova to receive support from Lithuania to liquidate emergencies

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova (MAI) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania signed today in Chisinau a cooperation agreement in the field of civil protection and emergency situations.
The Internal Minister Alexander Jizdan said that by signing this agreement "the parties may assist each other in times of natural disasters."
"Traditionally, between the two Governments, there is a very good cooperation and exchange of experience in combating organized crime and fraud. Lithuania went exactly as Moldova through a period of reform in all spheres, and this experience will be beneficial to our authorities," said Jizdan.
At his part, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Zilinskas Tomas said that "will support and provide the necessary help for our country to continue reforms in the police system, including the fight against corruption at the central level".
Also today, the Lithuania official donated to Moldova ten vehicles for intervention in exceptional circumstances, to be used for extrication, liquidation of fires and other interventions at risk. The vehicles possess multifunctional equipment and will be distributed in the districts: Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Ialoveni, Orhei, Cantemir, Cimislia, Edinet, Stefan Voda, Drochia and Taraclia.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania is on a two-day working visit to Chisinau and schedules to have several meetings with the heads of MAI of Moldova.
