New chairman of Moldovan chamber of commerce and industry

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The participants of the extraordinary meeting of the Congress of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova (CCI) which took place today, have elected Sergiu Harea as the president of the institution. Previously, this interim function had been held by deputy chairman Tudor Olaru, after Valeriu Lazar resigned from the leadership of the institution chamber in late March.
The agenda included a single subject – CCI president election. After examining the proposals, the CCI members advanced candidacy of Sergiu Harea. According to Tudor Olaru, "he has extensive experience in economics and knows the principles of activity of CCI."
Sergiu Harea, thanked the CCI members for the trust, stressing that it is important for the CCI to have an active position in dealing with the central public authorities, local authorities and foreign partners, supporting local entrepreneurs and further intensifying public-private partnership. "I think that with the advent of new requirements and needs for economical agents, it is strictly necessary to diversify and launch the new CCI support services for business. However, in the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, internationalization of small and middle firms, advising and encouraging them becomes a priority. Here lies an important role subdivisions, including the CCI subsidiaries. The CCI’s capacity building namely, will be one of the first actions I will undertake at the beginning of the mandate," said the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sergiu Harea holds higher education in economics, finance and accounting. Previously, he had worked in several public institutions, and in 1999 was employed at the CCI, as a consultant, reaching up to vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
