Germany to provide Moldova with support to implement dual education

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, in partnership with the Education Ministry and the German Agency for International Cooperation, today signed an agreement on implementing a draft on structural reform in the vocation education in Moldova.
The document provides for improving policies and institutional framework by adoption of dual professional training elements. Thus, the two institutions will intensely cooperate with the private sector. Interested enterprises will have possibility to train future employees directly within the education process. Also, programmes on dual education and methods of training highly-skilled labour force, necessary for Moldova’s labour market, will be developed and implemented through cooperation with education institutions.
At the event, Education Minister Corina Fusu said that this system had been already implemented in two vocational schools, which train specialists in the textiles and motor transport sectors.
“Starting from 1 September this year, dual education, backed by an electric energy supplier, will be introduced at another excellence centre. Pupils will have possibility to concomitantly attend theoretical courses and practical ones directly at the enterprise. The Ministry supports development of the dual system, and welcomes the signing of this agreement,” Fusu said.
For his part, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Eduard Grama said that “this is an opportunity for the agricultural sector to take over European practices of training and promotion of young specialists just from the first years of education.”
Attending the event, German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Knotz said that, in Germany, not only the state, but also the private sector was dealing with training young people studying in vocational schools. “For these reasons, German authorities will provide every needed support to develop such an education system in Moldova.”
