Moscow hosts Moldovan-Russian consultations on commercial, economic cooperation

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - Expert-level consultations on a draft roadmap for re-establishment and fostering of the trade relations between Moldova and Russia for 2016-2017 took place in Moscow on 26-27 July.
According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, the experts tackled a wide spectrum of issues on the commercial and economic ties between the two states. In particular, the sides discussed the problem on resumption of exports in Moldovan seasonal vegetal products and goods of animal origin, and well as the extension of the list of goods that can be supplied to the Russian market, including wines and canned products. Also, the experts considered aspects of the bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transports, agriculture, industry, investments, migration, etc.
At the consultations, the Moldovan side approached the issue of transit of goods from Moldova, through Ukraine and Russia, to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other states of the region, hit in the wake of the tensions in the relations between Moscow and Kiev. In the context, the Russian side was given a petition on considering possibilities to remove the restrictions emerged on the concerned segment.
The negotiations on this document will continue, and a visit to Chisinau by First Deputy Economic Development Minister of Russia Aleksey Likhachev is planned following 20 August, to discuss steps due to be undertaken to legislate the document discussed. Experts’ proposals and conclusions are to be given final touches till next September. A meeting of the Moldovan-Russian inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation is scheduled to take place in Moscow in November 2016.
The consultations between the groups of experts were organized following agreements reached at a meeting of the co-heads of the Moldovan-Russian inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation, Octavian Calmic and Dmitry Rogozin, held in Chisinau on 5 July.
