Moldovan government, UN agencies to work together for achieving common strategic goals

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Moldovan government  and the United Nations (UN) Agencies on 28 July had a substantive dialogue on possibilities to boost cooperation to achieve common strategic goals. Participants at the first meeting of the UN–Moldova Partnership Framework Coordination Committee, co-chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and UN Resident Coordinator Dafina Gercheva, discussed a number of topics of common strategic interest, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

In the context, the prime minister said that it was very important to launch the platform for strengthening the partnership work and carry out joint development projects of Moldova. "We describe the value of collaboration with UN agencies as extremely important, in the context of strong national presence and capacity to combine local and international interventions. For us, it is very important to know that we have the necessary capacities to implement the reforms underway and feel the support of development partners," said the PM.

At the same time, UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova Dafina Gercheva thanked the authorities for openness and constructive collaboration. "After the new government was sworn in office, we see stabilization of the situation, which automatically opens room for dialogue and expand the cooperation framework. Currently, the UN representative office in Chisinau is working on a new program for Moldova, due to be implemented during five years," said Dafina Gercheva.

The dialogue was also focused on the strategic development priorities and commitments in such sectors as democratic governance, justice and human rights, environment and managing climate changes. Also, the participants in the meeting addressed issues related to localizing sustainable development goals in the context of the Development Agenda 2030.

At the end of the meeting, the sides ruled to appoint the State Chancellery to launch process of evaluating the National Development Strategy "Moldova 2020".
