Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The law on specialized prosecutor’s offices will be published in the 30 July issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
The document provides for the setting up of the anticorruption prosecutor’s office, prosecutor’s office for fighting organized crime and special causes. They will have a separate budget, a distinct chart with special powers. The headquarters of these prosecutor’s offices will be placed in Chisinau, with territorial offices or representations in the territory, that will be approved by the Prosecutor’s General’s Office, with the consent of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
Under the chart, the law sees “50 prosecutors at the most, 40 consultants of the latter, 31 criminal prosecution officers, ten specialists and seven employees in the structure of the technical and administrative staff. The prosecutors of the institutions are independent in proceedings, are led by the chief prosecutor, assisted by a deputy or, if necessary, by deputies,” the law reads.
At the same time, the criminal prosecutor officers, the investigation ones and specialists will be selected by the chief prosecutor of the specialized prosecutor’s office and detached from other institutions for a five-year period, with possibility to extend the term for a similar period, under order by the Prosecutor General, with the approval of the head of the institution from which they were detached and with the written agreement of this head.
The creation of specialized prosecutor’s offices is carried out according to the strategy of reforming the justice sector for 2011-2016 and the concept on Prosecution’s reformation. The action fits into measures provided for in the Moldova – EU Association Agreement.
The law on National Integrity Authority and the one on declaring personal wealth and interests will be published in the 30 July issue of the Official Journal too.
