Chisinau, 1 August /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament has adopted a Declaration on national partnership in the European integration sector. The document, approved on 29 July, is aimed at strengthening social and political cohesion in the process of Moldova’s European integration, for the country’s sustainable modernization and consolidating the rule of law state, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The declaration stresses that the situation in Moldova can be changed only within a national partnership for European integration. In the context, representatives of the civil society and parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political parties are invited to unconditionally back the implementation of the commitments taken within the Moldova – EU Association Agreement.
The MPs make an appeal to EU institutions and member states to as soon as possible launch an international mission of experts of the EU-JUST type, that is to support the authorities in strengthening the rule of law state and independent work of the justice and law-enforcement institutions in charge of fighting the high-level corruption.
For his part, the parliament commits to promote a transparent system of appointing the leaders of the law-enforcement and regulatory institutions, based on public contests. Also, the parliament is to speed up the creation of a legislative framework needed for implementing the international transparency standards on the use of offshore jurisdictions in the public and private sector of Moldova.
The declaration on national partnership in the European integration sector was presented by MP Iurie Leanca, one of the document’s authors, from the parliament’s rostrum.
Under the decision of the Standing Bureau from 29 July 2016, Iurie Leanca is the new chairman of the Parliamentary Council for European Integration.
“I convey the chairmanship of the Council in good hands and I am sure that we will make progress and will have very good results. With his experience both as foreign minister and prime minister, with a stock of knowledge in the field, Iurie Leanca takes commitment for our dream of rapprochement with the European Union comes true as soon as possible,” Andrian Candu said.
