Chisinau, 3 August a/MOLDPRES/ - Romania on 24 August will transfer the first 60-million-euros-worth installment of a repayable loan amounting to 150 million euros for Moldova, under a decision approved by the Romanian government today.
“The exchange of letters between the prime ministers of Moldova and Romania, signed in Chisinau on 18 July 2016 and 29 July 2016 and, respectively, in Bucharest on 21 July 2016, on the notification and respectively, confirmation of the fulfillment of the needed measures and conditions for issuing the first installment worth 60,000,000 euros, is approved,” reads the decision by the Romanian cabinet.
Romania’s government in last autumn ruled to earmark to Moldova a loan amounting to 150 million euros in preferential conditions. Subsequently, the loan was blocked for several months; the Romanian authorities made the money transfer conditional upon a string of reforms.
Among the seven conditions, there are reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a new programme, appointment of a new governor of the National Bank of Moldova, clear prioritizing of the implementation of the European Union-Moldova Association Agenda, initiating a legislative package for improving the business environment, etc. At a today meeting, the Ciolos government found out that the Chisinau cabinet had fulfilled all conditions.
