Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today backed a proposal by the Finance Ministry to set a moratorium on the “increase in the number of staff” in the public authorities and other budget-financed institutions.
“The draft was developed in order not to allow debts to the fund of paying wages to the public institutions’ employees,” Finance Minister Octavian Armasu said at the cabinet meeting. The moratorium is applied to the situation from 1 August 2016 and does not refer to the graduates of the higher education institutions willing to be employed in the public system.
The sum of the savings formed from the vacant posts will be blocked till the rectification of the state budget, which, according to the minister, will be carried out in late August, early September.
The introduction of the moratorium was demanded by the International Monetary Fund.
