Victor Chironda, civic activist
MOLDPRES: After the proclamation of Independence, Moldova could follow three ways of development: independent, unionist or closely dependent on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (most recently, the Eurasian Union). Should we start from the very beginning, what path would you choose?
Victor Chironda:I would choose the development and modernisation of Moldovan state in order to offer the residents a decent life and possibility to assert themselves at home. If God gave us a state, we must try to develop it, but not get rid of it.
MOLDPRES: What future do you see for Moldova?
Victor Chironda: I think Moldova has a beautiful future provided that we learn from mistakes and cease waiting for salvation from abroad. No one will come to us eliminate corruption, build roads or create jobs. Foreign partners may help us, but they cannot do it for us.
