Three persons of Moldovan top bank receive arrest warrants

Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau-based Buiucani district court today decided preventive detention for 25 and 30 days of former deputy governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), head of the banking supervision department and head of regulatory and licensing department. They are accused of negligence at work, which caused serious consequences.
According to the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Centre, BNM deputy governor is arrested for 25 days, and the two heads of department for 25 and 30 days.
The three persons of the BNM leadership were arrested for 72 hours on 5 August in a criminal case initiated on 2 August 2016 as regards negligence at work during 2010-2014. Defendants would have allowed money laundering worth 20 billion dollars through a commercial bank, without taking any measures to stop the action.
The suspects run the risk of up to 6 years in prison, deprived of the right to hold certain positions for a period of up to 10 years.
