Former head of Moldova Post Office released from prison today

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- The former head of the financial control and internal audit service of the Moldova Post Office state-owned enterprise, Sergiu Cibotaru, was released from prison today, according to a decision taken by magistrates of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
The head of the press service of the Court of Appeal, Octeabrina Popa, confirmed the information noting that “judges admitted the appeal by lawyers of the accused Sergiu Cibotaru, a decision will be made public on 11 August.”
Sergiu Cibotaru was arrested on 29 July 2016 by employees of the criminal investigation department of the General Police Inspectorate, being opened two criminal cases on misappropriation in exceptionally large proportions and on forced labor. The cases were initiated on the basis of 16 complaints filed by more residents of Nisporeni district, as the suspect allegedly forced them to forcibly work and embezzled money in especially large proportions from a person.
Injury to victims amounts to 400,000 lei.
Earlier, Cibotaru told a TV station that the employees of the Moldova Post Office were involved in illegally transporting abroad anabolic substances hidden in parcels and the actions would be conducted by leadership of enterprise.
