EU to support UTA Gagauzia, Taraclia district socio-economic development projects

Chisinau, 11 August /MOLDPRES/ – The European Union will support socio-economic development projects with a total amount of 2,76 million euros for Administrative Territorial Unit (UTA) Gagauzia and Taraclia district.
Funds are to be provided within the project on supporting agriculture and rural development in Gagauzia and Taraclia (SARD), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
However, according to the UNDP Moldova press release, start-up companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) existing in the region will benefit assistance. Small scale infrastructure renovation projects and intercommunity cooperation will be financed to increase the living standards and the quality of local public services, but also to encourage partnerships between neighbouring UTA Gagauzia and Taraclia district’s communities.
Contest on project suggestions was launched on 11 August 2016, at a introductory session set in Taraclia city.
SARD Project views to strengthen cooperation between central and local authorities, while being financed by the European Union by 6,5 million euros and implemented by UNDP. It also focus upon UTA Gagauzia and Taraclia district regional organizations co-work, in order to enhance the regional socio-economic development and of the Republic of Moldova, as a whole.
