The Republic of Moldova: 25 years of Independence
Tudor Deliu, Member of Moldovan Parliament
MOLDPRES: After the proclamation of Independence, Moldova could follow three ways of development: independent, unionist or closely dependent on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (most recently, the Eurasian Union). Should we start from the very beginning, what path would you choose?
Deliu: After the declaration of independence, Moldova seems to have become free but not "freed". A foreign state’s military presence in the republic, damages the image of independence. As for the development ways, I missed the late 80s early 90s unification with the motherland, and now it is harder to realize, but still remains, however, the best way for our rebirth.
MOLDPRES: What future do you see for Moldova?
Deliu: The future of Moldova undoubtedly is next to the EU countries. We have nothing with Slavs, our Roman brothers (Romania, France, Spain, Italy, etc.) are there. They expect us. But we have still a lot of work to do and not just by words but by facts.
I want to be in a country with prominent people,
When they stop biting and do not betray,
When Monday day is Monday to Tuesday
And, it is certainly Wednesday there to follow...
Congratulations, Moldova! Ahead to Europe!
