Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- The Bureau for Reintegration has expressed concern about the new military drills held near Tiraspol city on 16-17 August, organized by the so-called Transnistrian power forces jointly with the Operative Group of Russian Troops, and describes such actions in Moldova as illegal and inadmissible.
According to a press release issued by the Bureau for Reintegration, “Transnistrian media’s excessive media coverage of the military drills, as well as Transnistrian leaders’ participation indicate on tightening situation in the region”.
The provocative actions of this kind undermine the current peacekeeping mechanisms, are incompatible with the logic of negotiation process on Transnistrian settlement and represent an open challenge to sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, the communiqué also reads.
“We reiterate that military exercises frequently carried out in the Transnistrian region denote the existence of enhanced interaction between the Russian and Transnistrian military troops, which requires to mobilize efforts for meeting the goal on unconditional withdrawal of foreign military troops without determined legal status, as well as their stocks of ammunition from Moldova, by respecting the constitutional provisions and international commitments”, the press release reads.
