Spiru Haret's bust to be installed In Chisinau

Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Cabinet of Ministers supported the suggestion to install the bust of the illustrious personality in education, academician and professor Spiru Haret in Chisinau municipality, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The sculptural composition represents a tribute to commemorate 165 years since the birth of Spiru Haret and will be located in front of the lyceum building in Chisinau that bears his name.

The expenses for designing, executing and building of the bust, as well as, the necessary preparation works of the underlying land, will be carried out by the Lyceum Spiru Haret in Chisinau.

Spiru Haret was a Romanian, of Armenian origin, mathematician, professor and astronomer. He was born in Iasi and served as the Minister of Education in Romania for three terms, standing out by his innovative organizational methods of modern education, being considered a reformer of the Romanian school in the XIX-th century.
