Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/-The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today summoned the representative of the Russian Embassy in Moldova referring to information spread by Transnistrian media on military drills repeatedly held by the Operative Group of Russian Troops jointly with Transnistrian power forces, aiming at “counteracting terrorist threats”, the MAEIE’s information and media relations service has reported.
The MAEIE reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ firm stance on the fact that such actions, which foreign military forces illegally staying in Moldova and military and paramilitary subdivisions of a pseudo-state entity with unknown status were involved in, were provocative and inadmissible, as a challenge to the peacekeeping mechanisms in the region and undermine sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
In this context, the ministry stressed the need to withdraw Russian military forces and ammunition from Moldova and to transform the current peacekeeping operation into a multinational civil mission with international mandate.
