Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/- The political parties will benefit from about 40 million lei from the state budget, according to a decision adopted at a today’s meeting of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
The money will be offered in line with performance in parliamentary elections of 30 November 2014 and general local elections of 14 June 2015.
CEC head Alina Russu said that the money would be distributed proportionally for the parliamentary elections and the local ones in a ratio of 50 per cent. “The political parties are to open a bank account, where the money will be transferred monthly starting from August 2016”, Russu said.
“At the same time, the independent candidates will not benefit from subsidies, and the electoral blocs are to divide the amount equally”, Russu said.
According to final data of the 2014 parliamentary elections, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) made it to the parliament by 20.51 per cent, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – 20.16 per cent, Party of Communists (PCRM) – 17.48 per cent, Democratic Party (PDM) – 15.80 per cent and Liberal Party – by 9.67 per cent.
The same political parties got the highest number of votes at the 2015 local elections.
In March 2015, the parliament voted a law, according to which the political parties would have the right to annually receive financing from the state budget. The allocations will not exceed 0.2 per cent of budget revenues and will be offered depending on performance in parliamentary elections or local ones.
